A question on immigration

When contemplating the issue of immigration, keep in mind that we are talking about human beings: like you and me. Also, immigration is about more than just the southern border.

How long should a person, wanting to immigrate to the United States, wait in the proverbial "line" Lou Dobbs and friends can not stop talking about?

Currently people are waiting years to get their paper work processed: in some cases up to 5 to 10 years.

This long wait is one of the top five motivation for "illegal immigration."

How long is a reasonable wait for a green card, let alone citizenship?
